A few weeks ago, a client called me for help with purchasing a medical practice. The deal was moving at lightening speed, and he was concerned about potential risks.


This isn’t uncommon. Many people believe that buying a small business is quick and easy. While it can be done quickly, that usually means sacrificing value.


Just like buying a car or a house, if you need to make a quick purchase, you might end up with a less-than-ideal deal. But taking the time to do things right can significantly improve your outcome.


The process of buying a business is a little more complicated than buying a house, but the principles are similar.  To get the best outcome, make sure to line up the right advisors early, and give yourself enough time to get it right.
